A rare collector's piece, 1940s Gilbert Adrian lightweight gabardine wool suit with Adrian signature double tie closure on the jacket. Fantastic repeated gradient effect, shoulder pads, small stand up collar, hidden hook and eye closures, welt pockets and side metal zipper on the skirt.
Gilbert Adrian created the signature looks for the great Hollywood actresses such as Garbo, Shearer, Crawford, Garland, and Harlow.He was responsible for Joan Crawford’s big-shouldered look that influenced the way American women dressed. He was also known for his glamorous flowing gowns.
